APT-DVC is sponsoring a half day workshop at Eastern State Penitentiary on Friday April 27 from 10 am to 1 pm. This event is being held on the final day of a week-long training program being held for masonry apprentices from Williamson College of the Trades by the International Masonry institute and the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1 PA/DE.

The program will begin with an hour- long presentation on the methods and materials for repointing historic masonry structures. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with the apprentices to repoint a section of wall along the 1903 Kitchen building, that has stone sections dating to an earlier 1830’s construction.

Additional support will be provided by Pullman SST and material is being supplied by Limeworks and Cava Building Supply.

This program counts towards 2 AIA Continuing Education Hours and lunch will be provided. Space is limited to 15 participants.
