Insider's Tour of Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art

  • Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art 1 Hoffmans Mill Road Chadds Ford, PA 19317 United States (map)

During Hurricane Ida in September 2021, the Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art (BCMA) experienced significant flood damage when floodwater engulfed the museum's lowest level, which contained a lecture room, classroom, offices, mechanical and electrical systems, and more. Due to the damage, the museum was forced to close for three months. Since the flooding, BCMA planned, funded, and implemented multiple projects that position the institution to continue to thrive and grow.

Please join us on November 21 from 3 to 5 p.m. for an insider’s view of the current work to bolster and waterproof the historic mill building and 1960s additions and see some of the flood mitigation work firsthand. A range of flood protection concepts will be discussed and how the solutions for the BCMA were developed.

Because it is an active construction site, closed-toe shoes and hardhats are required for the tour. The Museum is located at 1 Hoffman's Mill Road, Chadds Ford, PA 19317. The tour is limited to 20 registrants. Registration is $5 for APT-DVC members and $10 for non-members.

Following the event, the conversation can be continued over drinks at a local establishment.
