Preston is a conservator and preservationist at Building Conservation Associates, Inc. in Philadelphia. He is a native of Gettysburg whose first experience in building technology was working at his family’s electrical contracting business. In the years since, Preston developed a strong interest in preserving the built history of the Mid-Atlantic. He has co-led two APT tours at the site he studied for his Master’s thesis, the kilns of the former Coplay Cement Company in Lehigh County. At BCA, he has been the primary author of Historic Structure Reports for two historic plantations on the Chesapeake Bay. Preston has also had the opportunity to work at multiple former Pennsylvania Railroad stations, including Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station, and several national landmarks in Washington, DC, including the new National Museum of African American History and Culture. He is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate Program in Historic Preservation.
